Lyric Art Competition

Hey folks,

I’ve been very touched by some fan-art popping up around the web based on lyrics from the songs, and have decided to roll out a chance to have some fan-art printed and signed as part of an online competition…

Each week I’ll upload some new lyrics from the upcoming album, if you want to enter you can do so by creating any 2D artwork centred around the lyrics. Graphic design, paint, etc… it’s up to you.

Each week I’ll pick a selection of entries to feature on my website and Facebook and also win a copy of Hozier the album signed by me.

At the beginning of October one overall winner will be announced and their entry will be printed as a screen print, framed, signed by me and sent back to you.

To enter this week upload your image in the comments section for this Facebook post or tweet me with the #inaweeklyrics

Good luck!

Jackie and Wilson

Hozier and band have recorded a special live version of Jackie and WIlson the studio version of which will appear on Hozier the album.

Commenting on the origins of the song and the name check of soul singer Jackie Wilson in its title Hozier said, “He’s a big influence for me, he’s fantastic. I think Elvis was the white Jackie Wilson, rather than any other way ’round. I suppose the song is about being lost. There’s sometimes a recurring theme of looking from the outside in and idealising some idea of somebody or something as a cure for oneself. It’s also me trying to enjoy writing something more fun, playing something more fun.”
